White Lies (Or Worse) And Why They Aren’t Worth It

If you know you are qualified for a profession but still have to provide evidence of this to the Department it can be very frustrating. You might convince yourself that it’s ok to get a friend to write you a fake reference letter or your old boss to call you a chef when really you were a dishwasher but learn from the mistakes that others have made before you, it’s not worth it!!!

The Department perform checks on evidence you provide them such as calling references on the phone or turning up at their offices. If their story is different to the story you provided the Department you can find your visa cancelled or refused. Worse still, if you are caught giving false or misleading information to the Department, there can be a ban on you re-entering Australia for several years. One small white lie might ruin your chances of migrating forever.

Even innocent people get caught up in these accusations, they may write something slightly different on one form than they did another and the Department can take this as being a sign of foul play. This is one of the things that migration agents and lawyers particularly know to look out for. Your visa is your life so don’t take chances.
